Young singers invited to Be a Chorister for a Day at Bradford Cathedral

On Saturday 7th March 2026 from 10am to 12:30pm, Bradford Cathedral is inviting budding young singers to experience a day in the life of a Cathedral chorister. Children and their families will have the chance to meet and sing with the current choristers, and to find out more about being part of the choir.

The day will begin with a tour of the Cathedral (the oldest building in Bradford!), and a demonstration of the wonderful Cathedral Organ. Children will then meet with the current choristers, and observe them singing a rehearsal. Finally, the group will learn and sing some music all together.

This event is a great opportunity to see if being a chorister is something that might interest a child who wants to do more singing. Choristers at Bradford Cathedral benefit from a free, first class musical education from a staff of professional musicians, with no experience necessary to sign up. They have opportunities to sing in concerts, including for TV and Radio, and to go on trips and tours. The Choir offers opportunities for boys and girls to sing as Cathedral choristers, irrespective of family, educational, financial, or religious background.

Geoffrey Woollatt, Bradford Cathedral’s Director of Music, says: “I’m very much looking forward to welcoming young singers to Bradford Cathedral to experience a day in the life of a chorister. Being a Cathedral chorister is a great opportunity to make new friends, sing and have fun together, and learn more about music. We would love to meet and sing with any children who enjoy music, all are welcome and no experience necessary”.
