Bradford Cathedral hosts Triangle of Unity exhibition for National Learning Programme

Bradford Cathedral is joining The World Reimagined’s National Learning Programme to host the Triangle of Unity exhibition, an initiative designed to bring communities together through art, education, and global awareness.

From Thursday 22 January, the Cathedral will display ten Globe sculptures created by pupils from Immanuel College, Bradford Forster Academy, and collaborating artists. Each globe features letters, artwork, and reflections from students on heritage, climate change, and global connections. The exhibition will run until Thursday 26 February.

The globes are part of The World Reimagined’s National Learning Programme, which combines English, Geography, and Visual Arts to encourage empathy, intergenerational dialogue, and climate consciousness. Students have engaged in letter exchanges with family members to explore identity, roots, and traditions. They have also connected with peers in Africa and the Caribbean to understand the environmental challenges faced by communities most affected by climate change.

The initiative links UK classrooms with schools across the Atlantic, promoting global understanding among young people. Globes will be displayed at Cathedral locations in Bristol, Bradford, London Southwark, and Sheffield, collectively reaching an estimated 800,000 visitors weekly.

Bradford Cathedral will host a Triangle of Unity family event on 21 February 2026. The free event will include steel band workshops and craft-making activities, aiming to amplify young voices and strengthen social cohesion through discussions of heritage and the environment.

Michelle Gayle, CEO of The World Reimagined, said: “The Triangle of Unity Learning Programme invites young people to explore the lived experiences of elders in their own families, while engaging in Atlantic Triangle conversations rooted in empathy and justice. By bringing together heritage, climate change, and art, we aim to inspire a generation of changemakers and strengthen connections within and between communities.”

The Revd Ned Lunn, Canon for Intercultural Mission and the Arts at Bradford Cathedral, said: “At Bradford Cathedral we often speak about being woven into the life of the city; sharing its stories, holding its questions, and creating spaces where people can meet one another with curiosity and care. This collaboration with The World Reimagined brings that commitment to life in a tangible way.

“In 2026 one of our creative themes, tying together activities, services and events, is: Borders and Belonging. In one of the most dynamic, intercultural cities in the UK, Bradford Cathedral is opening up the creative space to ask the challenging questions of how we live across difference and what it means for us to belong together.

“These globes invite visitors to come and see, to pause, and to engage with the voices and imaginations of young people reflecting on heritage and global connection. In a city shaped by arrival, movement and exchange, the Cathedral will continue to be both home and destination: a place of welcome and encounter where difference is not feared, stories are held together, and new possibilities for belonging can begin to take shape.”
