A building that once echoed with the hum of silk looms will soon ring with the sound of brass. Towngate plc, one of the North’s leading commercial and industrial property specialists, has welcomed two new tenants to its landmark Parkview House in Brighouse — uniting local heritage, music, and business growth under one roof.
The internationally acclaimed Clifton and Lightcliffe Subscription Band Association has moved into an 820 sq ft second-floor suite under a five-year lease. The move is historic in itself — the band’s first relocation in 93 years. Forced to find a new home after the redevelopment of its long-standing base in Bailiff Bridge, the group’s new premises mark a significant milestone in its near 200-year journey.
Formed in 1838, the band has long been part of the cultural fabric of West Yorkshire, performing at prestigious events and international venues from France to California. Its new home at Parkview House provides the facilities needed to continue that legacy — complete with rehearsal and meeting spaces, instrument storage, and access to communal amenities.
Jane Clay, secretary of the Clifton and Lightcliffe Subscription Band Association, said: “After almost a century in our former home, finding the right new space was incredibly important to us. Beyond being local, it needed to accommodate both our senior and B band, along with instruments, uniforms, and over 2,000 sets of music, which is no small feat. Parkview House offers the perfect setting for this new chapter. We’re so grateful to the Smith family and Towngate plc, who have been wonderful to work with – supportive, welcoming, and genuinely interested in helping us find a location that suits our needs.”
Joining the band at Parkview House is Cream Financial Solutions, an award-winning financial advisory firm. Signing a five-year lease for a 2,040 sq ft ground-floor office, the Wolverhampton-headquartered business is expanding northwards as part of its strategic growth plan. With three existing branches, the new Brighouse base strengthens the company’s regional presence and provides a modern workspace for its growing client network.
Originally built in the 1800s as part of a silk mill, Parkview House now forms part of the refurbished Woodvale Office Park, a Towngate plc development that retains the site’s historic charm while offering contemporary facilities. Its proximity to the M62 and Brighouse railway station makes it ideal for businesses seeking connectivity without sacrificing character.
Julia Ford, marketing manager at Towngate plc, said: “These two lettings highlight the strength and versatility of our regional portfolio. We’re proud to offer premises that appeal to established organisations and growing businesses alike – from a historic community band with international recognition to a thriving financial firm expanding its footprint. Parkview House is a prime example of how Towngate continues to preserve Yorkshire’s industrial heritage while providing contemporary spaces that meet today’s commercial needs.”
From a brass band with a global following to a financial firm with national ambition, the latest arrivals at Parkview House reflect the blend of tradition and progress that defines Brighouse itself. For Towngate plc, it’s another note in a long-standing composition — one that continues to harmonise history with opportunity.
