Yorkshire Law Firm Walker Foster Registers Armed Forces Covenant with Ministry of Defence

Walker Foster, a well-established Yorkshire solicitors’ firm, has officially registered its Armed Forces Covenant with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), formalising its commitment to supporting serving personnel, reservists, veterans and their families across the region.

The Covenant, now officially recognised by the MoD, is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the society they serve. Walker Foster’s registration pledges to ensure military personnel face no disadvantage compared to other citizens when accessing legal services, with special consideration for the injured and bereaved.

“Signing the Armed Forces Covenant reflects our firm’s longstanding values of caring about our clients and making a difference in our communities,” said Maxine Heppenstall, Managing Director of Walker Foster. “Military personnel and their families face unique challenges, and we want to ensure they have access to legal support that truly understands their situation. This official registration with the Ministry of Defence demonstrates our formal commitment to serving those who serve our country.”

Walker Foster, which operates seven offices across Yorkshire, including Skipton, Harrogate, Ilkley and Northallerton, has committed to providing tailored legal advice that recognises the unique circumstances faced by military personnel and their spouses. The firm’s commitment extends to employment practices, offering a supportive and flexible workplace culture for veterans, reservists and military spouses and recognition of military skills and qualifications throughout the recruitment process.

The firm assisted with the Poppy Appeal in 2025, maintains an ongoing relationship with Blind Veterans UK, and has plans to further support the armed forces throughout 2026 and beyond.
