Taylor Wimpey Manchester supporting Little Green Bus to keep community moving

In the heart of the Ribble Valley, a small but mighty charity is continuing its mission to keep people connected, with a little help from a local housebuilder. Taylor Wimpey Manchester has donated £200 to Little Green Bus, a community transport service based in Clitheroe, just a short distance from the company’s Half Penny Meadows development.

For the past 15 years, Little Green Bus has been a lifeline for residents across the Ribble Valley and East Lancashire who cannot easily use regular public transport. From wheelchair-accessible minibuses to volunteer-run car journeys, the charity ensures that no one is left cut off from their community. Its work tackles loneliness, supports mental wellbeing, and enables people to live more active, engaged lives.

Among its services are Dial-a-Ride, a door-to-door minibus scheme; Community Cars, where volunteer drivers provide lifts to essential appointments; Group Transport for organisations without their own accessible vehicle; and friendly Day Trips to local events and attractions. Whether it is helping someone to their weekly shop, getting a patient to a hospital appointment, or taking a group to a lunch club, the charity’s work has a direct and often life-changing impact.

Adrian Clarke, CEO and Manager of Little Green Bus, said: “On behalf of Little Green Bus, I would like to say a huge thank you to Taylor Wimpey for the generous donation. For Little Green Bus, support from the wider community is vital to our success in helping people in the area. With this donation, we can continue to give our unwavering support to our local community.”

Taylor Wimpey Manchester, which is building new homes at Half Penny Meadows, says its connection to the area makes supporting such causes a natural step. Sam Evans, Sales and Marketing Director, said: “We’re always looking to support the communities and charities where we have our developments, and Little Green Bus does incredible work supporting the local community.

“We hope our donation can assist the team at Little Green Bus in continuing to offer its incredible service to local people in Ribble Valley and we look forward to spotting the Little Green Bus out on the road close to our development.”

Half Penny Meadows offers a blend of modern living and rural charm, with two- to five-bedroom homes ranging from apartments to detached houses. Nestled near Clitheroe village and surrounded by the stunning scenery of Pendle Hill and the Ribble Valley, the development includes landscaped green spaces, footpaths linking to the countryside, and eco-friendly features such as PV panels, EV chargers, triple glazing, and wastewater heat recovery.

By backing Little Green Bus, Taylor Wimpey Manchester is not only helping a local charity keep its wheels turning but also showing how businesses can play an active role in strengthening community life. In rural areas where public transport can be sparse, such support ensures that residents remain connected, engaged, and able to access the services and activities that matter most.
