Taylor Wimpey Manchester has donated 321 winter essentials to support people experiencing homelessness in Manchester.
The donation, made to homelessness charity Lifeshare, included socks, gloves, scarves and hats. It forms part of Taylor Wimpey’s Wrap Up Warm campaign, which aims to provide practical winter support to vulnerable people across the UK.
Through the campaign, the homebuilder has donated more than 14,000 winter essentials to 24 homelessness centres across England, Scotland and Wales. The initiative supports the company’s national charity partners, CRASH, St Mungo’s and CRISIS, alongside local organisations such as Lifeshare.
Lifeshare works across Greater Manchester to support homeless and vulnerable people. The charity provides practical assistance, information and support, helping individuals access initiatives designed to move their lives forward.
Jimmy Dunn, Respite Coordinator at Lifeshare, said: “Although Christmas is a happy time for many, it can also highlight the real struggles some people face. We are grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their efforts in donating warm clothing to those experiencing homelessness during the winter months. Their contribution will make a real difference to people in need.”
Founded in 1984, Lifeshare is Manchester’s oldest charity dedicated to supporting homeless and vulnerable people. Established by volunteers responding to a growing number of rough sleepers, the organisation has played a long standing role in tackling homelessness in the city.
Over four decades, Lifeshare has adapted its services to meet changing needs. Its work has ranged from providing food via a burger van to pioneering sexual health support, needle exchanges and more recently addressing the impact of Spice and supporting young people with complex needs.
The charity’s objectives include alleviating poverty and hardship through the redistribution of resources, offering information and signposting to other agencies, and promoting health and harm reduction. Lifeshare states that it supports anyone in need and is non religious with no political affiliations.
Rachel Barber, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said: “Lifeshare provides vital service and support to homeless people and we hope that our donation will go some way to providing some comfort to those without a home this Christmas.”
