Mayfield Dental Care, a long-established dentist in Atherton, is relocating to a larger practice with support from Lloyds Bank.
The practice has served the local community for over 40 years from its Mayfield Street location, treating around 8,500 patients. Its 14-strong team provides both routine NHS care and private cosmetic dental services.
The move comes in response to rising demand and is supported by a £1.1 million funding package from Lloyds. The new site occupies a historic building dating back to 1902, repurposed to create a modern clinical practice with six surgeries—two more than the previous location.
Dr Chris Ainsworth, of Mayfield Dental Care, said: “In recent years we’ve been seeing a growing demand for dental care services in the local area, and we’ve been keen to play our part in helping to address this. So, when we spotted a chance to create a larger practice nearby, we knew it was one we couldn’t afford to miss. I’m grateful for the support from Lloyds in allowing us to make the most of this opportunity. The move will allow us to improve our care for existing patients while giving us the ability to bring our services to more people across Atherton, and I’m looking forward to opening our new home early in the new year.”
Mayfield Dental Care is part of Freedom Smiles Holdings Ltd, which also operates Freedom Dental in Cheadle Hulme and Heaton Mersey Dental in Heaton Mersey.
Stephen Morris, relationship manager at Lloyds, said: “Mayfield Dental Care is a terrific example of a business serving the community and its continued growth over more than four decades is testament to how well it’s doing. The new practice not only marks an exciting time for Chris and his team but the wider area which relies on the important health services they provide. It was great to have been able to help them make this move and I look forward to seeing their new practice once it’s open.”
