GMI Construction Group, a major player in the North of England and the Midlands, has reported significant growth in profitability alongside stable turnover exceeding £200m.
Headquartered in Leeds, the group also maintains offices in Manchester, Stockton and Birmingham. Recent high-profile projects include Circle Square in Manchester, which provides 267,000 sq ft of office space, and the Dakota Hotel in Newcastle. The company has also completed the Hyatt Hotel in Leeds and continues work on student accommodation developments in Bristol, York and Manchester.
For the year ending 30 September 2025, turnover rose marginally from £232.2m to £233m, while gross profit increased from £7.7m to £11.3m. Profit before tax more than doubled from £1m to £2.3m, and cash reserves strengthened to £22.5m.
The company also expanded its public sector activity, with framework-delivered projects now representing 13 per cent of turnover. Looking ahead, GMI has already secured £280m in anticipated turnover for the coming year.
Gareth Jones, group managing director, said: “Against a backdrop of continued market volatility, this has been a year where our commitment to high standards of delivery has continued to prove successful. Our focus on disciplined project selection, operational excellence and predictable outcomes has translated directly into improved margins, stronger profitability and a further strengthening of our balance sheet.
“The results reflect the commitment and capability of our people, who continue to deliver complex projects safely, on time and to a consistently high standard for our clients.”
He added: “Our focus remains on disciplined, sustainable growth, underpinned by our exceptional delivery philosophy, a robust balance sheet and a high-quality forward order book. That positions GMI well as confidence begins to return to the market and opportunities start to accelerate.”
