Fastned has launched a new drive-thru electric vehicle charging hub at Newcastle Airport.
The facility offers 12 bays, each capable of delivering up to 400 kW per driver, providing approximately 100 miles of range in just five minutes. The hub is conveniently located a short drive from the airport terminal and adjacent to Callerton Parkway Metro station.
Tom Hurst, UK and Ireland country director at Fastned, said: “Our first airport location at Newcastle Airport is an exciting milestone. As people make the classic ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ journey this festive season, our new ultra-rapid charging hub forms part of our growing network across the North East, supporting hundreds of thousands of charging sessions and helping people travel sustainably across the region. So whether you’re heading to the airport, visiting family and friends, exploring seasonal events such as local markets, or simply going about your day, there are now faster, greener charging options available.”
Dean Ward, director of commercial at Newcastle Airport, added: “The new hub is our latest investment to make charging electric vehicles faster and more reliable for everyone. Just a short drive from the terminal, it’s perfectly placed for passengers travelling to and from the Airport, for those dropping off or picking up friends and family and for members of the local community. The opening of the hub marks another major milestone on our journey to become a Net Zero Carbon Airport by 2035 and reflects the fantastic progress being made across our business to create a cleaner, more sustainable future.”
With the addition of the Newcastle Airport hub, Fastned now operates 12 ultra-rapid charging sites across the North East.
