Broad Gate Leeds office deal sees tech company Emovis take 12,459 sq ft

Toll-based mobility tech provider Emovis, has purchased a ten year lease at the Broad Gate building in Leeds city centre, securing over 12,000 square foot of office space.

Emovis will occupy part of the fifth floor of the building, which sits on The Headrow and is one of the city centre’s most prominent commercial addresses.

Broad Gate is a 300,000 sq ft mixed-use development, offering Grade A office accommodation, penthouse office suites and four retail units.

It was formerly home to Lewis’s, the first department store in Leeds, which opened in 1932, and later Allders – the department store chain that sadly crashed in 2008 (except its Croydon branch), before being transformed into its current use.

Victoria Harris, office agency associate with Knight Frank in Leeds, who advised Emovis, said: “This is a very important deal, underlining the quality of Broad Gate. Emovis has taken part of the fifth floor of this very special building.

“Broad Gate is one of the finest office developments in Yorkshire.

“The excellent location, overlooking The Headrow, has all the benefits of the city centre on its doorstep. The recent transformation of this historic building has provided a unique opportunity to take up some of the most remarkable space in the city centre.

“There’s no doubt that Emovis are ideally suited to their new home, with their flourishing business perfectly aligned to the quality and prestige of Broad Gate. I am confident Emovis will be very happy here, as their business continues to expand.”

Raza Bashir, of Emovis, said the Broad Gate Leeds office deal marked an important step for the company’s future in the city.

“Broad Gate offers a high-quality, modern workspace in a prime city centre location, with excellent amenities and a professional environment that supports both our team and future growth. The move reflects our long-term commitment to investing in the region and building a strong presence in Leeds.

“With this strategic step, Emovis moves into a new phase of growth, innovation and operational enhancement in the United Kingdom. Broad Gate thus becomes an environment that fosters collaboration, efficiency, and employee well-being, laying the foundation for the company’s future development in the region.”

The space was previously occupied by Hays Recruitment, which has relocated elsewhere within Broad Gate after first moving into the building in June 2019.

Ms Harris said: “It is a resounding endorsement of Broad Gate that Hays have found a solution to move within the building to meet their long-term needs and extend their occupancy with a new lease contract.”

Other organisations based at Broad Gate include Yorkshire Building Society, the serviced officers provider Orega, the Colliers commercial real estate enterprise, the health and safety specialists Ramboll Environ, and the education company Kaplan Financial.

Knight Frank and Colliers act as joint letting agents on the building, which continues to attract major occupiers through deals such as the latest Broad Gate Leeds office deal.
