Birstall-based payments company Total Payments marks first year in business

A Yorkshire-Headquartered payments company is marking its first year of trading after helping hundreds of local firms move to faster and more flexible payment technology.

Total Payments, based in Birstall, launched in 2024 with a focus on providing transparent and affordable payment solutions for small businesses.

In its first twelve months, Total Payments has seen strong demand from independent retailers, cafés and tradespeople across Yorkshire and further afield. The uptake has been driven by card terminals and digital payment tools designed to reduce delays and remove hidden costs.

Total Payments was established to address challenges faced by smaller firms when managing cashflow and accessing modern payment systems. The business says its early growth reflects demand for simpler, clearer pricing and faster access to funds.

Director Nick Mehat said the company’s first year has focused on trust and ease of use. “We started Total Payments with a simple goal — to make it easier for small businesses to get paid and stay in control of their money,” he said.

“In just a year, we’ve helped hundreds of Yorkshire merchants modernise the way they take payments, with instant settlements and clear, affordable pricing.”

Total Payments offers a range of payment terminals and digital services. This includes the recently launched myPOS Ultra Card Machine, which provides instant access to funds, a free business account and mobile apps that allow businesses to manage payments while on the move.

As customer numbers have increased, the company has expanded its support team and digital services. Total Payments says it plans to open additional offices and create new jobs in the region over the next year to meet rising demand.

“Yorkshire is full of ambitious small businesses, and we’re proud to be part of their journey,” Mehat added. “Our success comes from supporting local and national firms who work hard every day to keep their communities thriving.”

Looking ahead, Total Payments says its priority is to grow across the UK while continuing to support entrepreneurs at a local level, remaining focused on clear pricing and technology led solutions as it enters its second year of trading.
