Finisterre Opens First Northern Store in Victoria Leeds

Outdoor clothing brand Finisterre has signed a lease for a 2,464 sq ft store in Victoria Leeds, marking the company’s first retail presence in the North of England. The space is part of Victoria Quarter, owned and operated by Redical, and will showcase Finisterre’s full lifestyle collection alongside its cold-water surfwear and outerwear ranges.

The brand’s name, Finisterre (also written as Finistère, Finisterra, or Fisterra), comes from the Latin term finis terrae, meaning “end of the earth”, reflecting the company’s Cornish heritage and deep connection to the sea. Founded in Cornwall in 2003, Finisterre has built a reputation for responsibly made outerwear, knitwear, and everyday essentials designed for life both on and off the coast. The brand emphasises performance, sustainability, and ethical production, incorporating materials such as recycled polyester, organic cotton, and traceable merino wool.

Rachel Bradburn, Head of Leasing at Redical, said: “Finisterre is a British brand with a loyal following and a powerful purpose, and an exceptional addition to our line-up. Their northern debut with us at Victoria Leeds builds on the destination’s growing appeal to distinctive, values-led retailers. Following hot on the heels of OMNES and Dinny Hall signings, these lettings reinforce Victoria Leeds as the home of northern firsts and a leading platform for premium, design-driven brands.”

Will Sheane, Chief Executive at Finisterre, added: “Victoria Leeds is the perfect home for us. It’s right in the heart of a vibrant city with a strong sense of community and a growing appetite for sustainable, high-quality outdoor apparel.”

The new store reflects Finisterre’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation. The brand has developed projects such as Bowmont Wool, which helps rescue a rare UK sheep breed for high-quality fibre, and its i-spy traceability programme, which allows customers to follow the lifecycle of products from material sourcing to delivery.

Finisterre has also cultivated a network of ambassadors in surfing, adventure sports, and photography, including Sandy Kerr, Bradford-born Sally McGee, and other athletes and creatives who champion the brand’s ethos. Its products have won multiple awards, including the RSPCA Good Business Award and Observer Ethical Business Award, and Finisterre became a certified B Corporation in 2018, reinforcing its commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

The arrival of Finisterre in Victoria Leeds follows a series of high-profile lettings at the destination, including OMNES and Dinny Hall, cementing the centre as a home for premium, design-led retailers making their northern debut. With the new store, Finisterre will bring its sustainably produced, high-performance clothing to a wider audience and strengthen its connection with customers across the North, staying true to its philosophy rooted in the spirit of the “end of the earth.”
